World Community Service Evening

The dinner was held at Don and Judy’s house and it was a great success.

Members brought in plenty of food. We all had a great evening and raised over $2,000 for the Rotary Foundation.

Thank you everyone for your contribution. And big thanks for Don and Judy for hosting it.

The following is a summary of where we have spent the money donated by members and the public. The Rotary Club of Sidney by the Sea segregates the operations and fundraising sides of the club. Club operations are supported by members. All fundraising is directed to charitable donations or student scholarships. The annual donations budget is in the $30,000 – $40,000 range depending on the success of our fundraisers.

The week of February 23rd marked 110 years since Paul P. Harris, Gustavus Loehr, Silvester Schiele, and Hiram E. Shorey gathered in Loehr’s office in Room 711 of the Unity Building in downtown Chicago for what would become known as the first Rotary club meeting. It also is 30 years since Rotary launched its campaign to rid the world of polio. Rotary clubs around the world celebrated the milestones in a variety of ways. You can view some of them by following this link.
As part of those celebrations locally, the END POLIO NOW and Rotary logos were projected onto the Empress Hotel.
